Team USA takes the Presidents Cup After Dominant Performance in Montreal
October 1, 2024
SUB 60 HEADLINES

Team USA continued its dominance at the Presidents Cup, securing a 10th straight victory by defeating the International team 18.5 to 11.5. After sweeping the International team 5-0 on the opening day, the star-studded U.S. team appeared unstoppable. However, an impressive sweep by the International Team on Friday evened the score, keeping the competition exciting heading into the weekend. Despite a mediocre performance by the International Team on Saturday, they still had a chance for an upset if they could win the majority of Sunday’s singles matches. Ultimately, the International Team didn’t stand a chance against team USA, which claimed 7.5 of the remaining 12 points on Sunday to win the cup.

Despite the lopsided victory, emotions ran high from both squads which led to Tom Kim and Scottie Scheffler to exchange some rare mid-round banter during their Thursday four-ball match. The exchange even led to some controversy as Tom Kim and Sungjae Im proceeded to walk off the green to the next tee box (a not-so-near 60 yards away), while Scheffler and Russel Henley were still putting on the previous hole. In the end, it proved to be just more drama for golf fans, as neither Henley or Scheffler were bothered by action.

The sensational year for Keegan Bradley continues as he was able to clinch the victory for team USA on Sunday with his singles victory over Si Woo Kim on Sunday.
"That was incredible," Bradley said after clinching the winning point. "I kept saying all week, I didn't know if I'd ever get to do this again. To be able to just play in this tournament and to win the point, my goodness. The last time I played, I was the point to lose the Ryder Cup. If this is my last round as a player, maybe it is, I'm happy with that."
Bradley’s playing experience in this years Presidents cup will be crucial at next years Ryder Cup as Bradley is slated to be team captain for the US who will be eager to take back the cup after losing in Rome in 2023.
There’s no questioning the golf popularity explosion in recent years and it appears Hollywood wants a piece of it. Netflix is doubling down on the golf content as they have recently announced 3 new golf-related releases for 2025.
In addition to 3rd season renewal for the popular Full Swing, Netflix has announced 2 new shows that will surely grab the attention of golf fans. The highly anticipated sequel to the 1996 classic, Happy Gilmore will not only return Hollywood stars Adam Sandler and Christopher McDonald to the cast, but will also feature appearances from Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and golf legend John Daly. In the same golf comedy vein, Will Ferrell will lead a new comedy series called GOLF where he will play the role of a Legendary (but fictional) golfer.
