In a dramatic playoff at the Maybank Championship on the LPGA Tour, Celine Boutier secured her fourth title of the season by making a birdie on the ninth playoff hole to defeat Atthaya Thitikul. Both players tied at 21-under after 72 regulation holes, and the nine-hole playoff tied the second-longest in LPGA Tour history, with Boutier ultimately emerging victorious with an 8-under 64 round and a clutch birdie putt.

This achievement marked Boutier as the first player to win at least four times in a single season since 2021, and her win adds to the intensifying competition for the Rolex Player of the Year Award with only three events remaining in the 2023 LPGA season.

THE LATEST WITH LIV

With the LIV 2023 season all wrapped up, we get a chance to reflect on the latest with LIV golf.
Relegation: Four LIV golfers, including Chase Koepka (the brother of 5-time major champion Brooks Koepka), have been relegated from LIV after finishing at the bottom of the league standings. The relegation leaves 3 open spots to join LIV after one of the four spots was filled by Andy Ogletree from the Asian Tour International Series.
LIV Golf Promotions Event: Players will have the opportunity to fill the 3 remaining relegated spots via a new 3-day, 72-hole event called LIV Golf Promotions, which will be held on Dec 8-10 where a $1.5M purse will be up for grabs.
Life after OWGR: After LIV Golf was notified that the league’s events would not be eligible for OWGR points, players and those affiliated with the league are looking for new alternatives. The TUGR ranking system continues to gain steam and looks to be the preferred choice by those within the league.
