Wyndham Clark beats out star-studded field to win U.S. Open
June 20, 2023
SUB 60 HEADLINES
Wyndham Clark overcame a star-studded leaderboard to emerge victorious at the Los Angeles Country Club, winning his first major. With Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy and Scotty Scheffler all in the final two pairings on Sunday, it seemed nobody was even talking about Wyndham Clark. It didn’t matter, however, for Clark wouldn’t be denied. The US Open win comes just 6 weeks after his first PGA title, after going winless in his first 143 starts. Is this simply a hot streak or is Wyndham Clark golf’s next star?

The emotional win for Clark was fueled by encouraging words from his late mother, who passed away from breast cancer in 2013. Lise Clark was Wyndham’s biggest supporter and always told her son to “play big”. Clark recently shared his mom’s parting words to him:
Play for something bigger than yourself. You have a platform to either witness, or help, or be a role model for so many people.
Clark did just that on Sunday, ousting golf’s biggest stars and is quickly making a name for himself on the tour.
