SUB 60 HEADLINES

Two rookies and a Monday qualifier delivered storybook finishes this past week, as Steven Fisk and Youmin Hwang captured maiden tour victories with clutch closing stretches while Tommy Gainey authored one of the year's most improbable Champions Tour wins.

Steven Fisk captured his first PGA Tour victory at the Sanderson Farms Championship, closing with three consecutive birdies to finish 24-under par and win by two strokes. The 28-year-old earned $1.08 million and secured a two-year tour exemption—crucial for a player ranked No. 135 in FedExCup standings entering the week. The victory carried emotional weight as Fisk's father passed away earlier in 2025, and his caddie Jay Green previously worked for Grayson Murray, who died by suicide in May. "I think he nudged a couple putts in for me for sure, maybe him or Grayson," Fisk said through tears.

The final-round drama peaked on the par-3 16th when Fisk drained a 41-foot birdie putt to tie South Africa's Garrick Higgo, who answered with his own 12-foot birdie—his fourth consecutive—then playfully shushed the rowdy crowd. Fisk sealed victory with birdies on the final three holes in just his 24th career PGA Tour start.

Youmin Hwang delivered one of the LPGA's greatest finishes at the LOTTE Championship, birdying the final four holes to win by one stroke at 17-under par. The 22-year-old South Korean, playing on a sponsor exemption, earned $450,000 and became the 26th different winner in 25 LPGA events this season—tying the tour record for most unique winners in a single year. After a record-tying second-round 62 and stumbling to a third-round 75, Hwang's Sunday 67 featured five birdies over her final six holes. "This is my dream," she said through a translator after trying her hand at the traditional winner's hula.

FROM MONDAY QUALIFIER TO CHAMPION

Tommy Gainey completed one of the year's most improbable victories, winning the Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS after Monday qualifying just to enter the field. The 50-year-old known as "Two Gloves" shot 14-under par to win by two strokes, earning $315,000 and becoming only the 15th open qualifier to win on PGA Tour Champions. The pivotal moment came on Sunday's par-5 13th when Gainey, four shots behind, putted his third shot from the fairway. The eagle putt slowly dropped, sending him to his knees. "I thought I left it short," Gainey said. "Then I dropped to my knees and then it finally fell. So it was like a God-answered prayer."

SOCIAL OF THE WEEK

Garrick Higgo's playful "shush" gesture after draining his fourth consecutive birdie on 16 went viral, echoing Patrick Reed's famous 2014 Ryder Cup moment. The week's other viral image: Vince Whaley playing a shot from the water with a 6-foot alligator floating 20 feet away. "Thankfully my back was to him," Whaley said. 🐊
