Emerald Isle's Dynamic Duo Capture New Orleans Classic
Longtime Friends McIlroy, Lowry Rally for Emotional Team Victory at TPC Louisiana

Longtime friends and Irish golf stars Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry captured the team event Zurich Classic of New Orleans after a thrilling playoff victory.
The duo, who have known each other since they were kids representing Ireland as amateurs, rallied from a slow start by going 5-under over the final 12 holes to force a playoff against surprise leaders Martin Trainer and Chad Ramey.
McIlroy and Lowry then prevailed on the first playoff hole, setting off an emotional celebration between the two recalling their quarter-century of friendship and looking ahead to potentially teaming up again for Ireland at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
It was McIlroy's 25th career PGA Tour win and Lowry's first since the 2019 Open Championship. The raucous New Orleans crowds cheered on the Irish pair all week, adding to the special atmosphere as McIlroy and Lowry re-energized their individual games with the fun team format victory.
