Griffin Grabs Third, Hataoka Ends Drought in Rain
Ben Griffin joins elite company with three PGA TOUR wins while playoff drama unfolds in Japan
November 11, 2025

Ben Griffin joined Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy as the only three-time winners on the PGA TOUR in 2025, posting 29-under at the World Wide Technology Championship. His final-round 63 included clutch putts of 40 and 25 feet, earning $1.08 million and moving him to World No. 9. Griffin’s two-shot win capped an improbable rise for a player who nearly quit golf in 2021 to work as a mortgage loan officer.
From loan officer to World No. 9 in four years. “Three wins and getting married in the same year, hard to beat,” Griffin said through tears. His victories include the Zurich Classic and Charles Schwab Challenge, making him the seventh player in history to win his first three career titles in one season.
On the LPGA front - Nasa Hataoka ended a three-year drought at the TOTO Japan Classic. Rain forced officials to convert the 18th hole into a 130-yard par-3 for the playoff, where Hataoka’s par defeated Yuna Araki’s bogey for $315,000
