SUB 60 HEADLINES

The PGA TOUR's 2025 season kicks off this week with The Sentry tournament at Kapalua's Plantation Course in Maui from January 2-5. This prestigious event marks the beginning of the Opening Drive, a two-week launch of the TOUR's schedule, and is the first of eight Signature Events in 2025.

The tournament features an exclusive 60-player field comprising 2024 tournament winners and the top 50 finishers from last season's FedExCup standings.

Two-time major champion Xander Schauffele headlines the event. Notable players include rising star Ludvig Åberg, Viktor Hovland, and Justin Thomas. However, current world No. 1 and FedExCup champion Scottie Scheffler will be absent due to right hand surgery.

The Plantation Course at Kapalua is renowned for its creative design and spectacular ocean views, providing a stunning backdrop for the season opener. The field represents a strong mix of established stars and emerging talent, setting the stage for an exciting start to the 2025 PGA TOUR season.

PGA TOUR STUDIOS LAUNCHES

The PGA TOUR's new state-of-the-art broadcast facility, PGA Tour Studios, is set to launch in 2025, with Tiger Woods recently touring the impressive three-story complex. The facility will feature up to 12 studios equipped with advanced technology, including 15-20 TV cameras per studio, eight production control rooms, and multiple audio edit and graphics rooms.

PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan emphasized that the new studios will revolutionize how fans experience golf content, bringing them closer to both players and the sport.

The facility, first conceived in 2018, will serve as a central hub for all PGA TOUR media operations, capable of handling 144 simultaneous camera feeds and live broadcasts across the PGA TOUR, Korn Ferry Tour, and PGA TOUR Champions.

In partnership with ESPN+, the studios will produce content in 1080p HDR with enhanced audio technology, ensuring comprehensive coverage where fans won't miss a shot. ESPN+ Senior Vice President John Lasker noted that the collaboration stems from both organizations' shared commitment to innovation and fan engagement.
