The Japanese star closed with an 8-under 65 in the final round and established another TOUR record with 35 holes played at birdie or better throughout the tournament.
The win, which included a spectacular eagle hole-out from 107 yards on the third hole, earned Matsuyama $3.6 million from the $20 million purse and marked his 11th PGA TOUR title.
He joins an elite group of players who have won both Hawaii tournaments on the TOUR schedule. When he competes in the Sony Open this week, he will have the opportunity to match Justin Thomas and Ernie Els as the only players to win both in the same year.
TGL, a new tech-infused indoor golf league that tees off tonight for the first time (New York Golf Club vs The Bay Golf Club, 9 EST on ESPN), is bringing an innovative twist to the sport while staying true to its roots.
The league, which features stars like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, will combine high-tech elements like a giant simulator screen and shot clock with authentic playing conditions, including real Tahoma 31 Bermuda grass grown specifically for the competition.
If hitting the first ever shot in @TGL history tomorrow night wasn’t nerve-racking enough, imagine if I miss the 60ft screen 🙈😂

Players will hit full shots off actual turf and play from sand bunkers filled with the same white sand used at Augusta National. Inside 50 yards, they'll transition to the "GreenZone," a sophisticated artificial putting surface spanning 3,800 square feet that can rotate 360 degrees and change slopes.

Early feedback from top players has been positive, with Billy Horschel comparing the turf feel to TPC Sawgrass, though the artificial putting surface presents unique challenges under stadium lighting. It’s time for golf under the lights! Are you gonna watch?
