SUB 60 HEADLINES

Justin Leonard delivered one of golf’s most clutch finishes in 2025, rolling in a 20-foot eagle putt on the 72nd hole to snatch victory from Ernie Els at the Dominion Energy Charity Classic. The 53-year-old’s dramatic closer gave him a 12-under 204 total and $350,000 from the $2.3 million purse, marking his second Champions Tour win of the season.

Els, who led most of the final round, bogeyed the 17th and missed a 10-foot birdie on 18 that would have forced a playoff, finishing one shot back alongside Thomas Bjorn at 11-under.

The victory catapulted Leonard from 17th to 9th in the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs standings as the Champions Tour enters its high-stakes postseason.

KIM ENDS DROUGHT VICTORIOUS DESPITE UNPRECEDENTED PARITY

Across the Pacific, Sei Young Kim ended a five-year victory drought with a commanding wire-to-wire performance at the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea. Kim’s 24-under 264 total earned her $345,000 and a four-shot victory over Japan’s Nasa Hataoka.

More impressively, the 32-year-old became the 27th different winner in 27 LPGA events this season—a new tour record for parity. Kim’s 13th career title came after she opened with a blazing 62 and never relinquished the lead across four days at Seowon Valley Country Club.

The LPGA’s unprecedented 2025 season has redefined competitiveness in professional golf. With 27 different winners through 27 official events, the tour shattered its previous record and showcased depth unlike any season in its 75-year history. Kim’s breakthrough came just one week after Jeeno Thitikul became the tour’s first repeat winner, ending a 26-tournament streak without back-to-back victories.

UP NEXT 📆

The LPGA shifts to team match play this week at the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown in South Korea, where eight national squads compete for $2 million. Defending champions Thailand, led by world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, face pressure from host nation Korea and a stacked USA team featuring Nelly Korda. History suggests a new champion—no team has successfully defended the Crown.

The PGA Tour heads to Utah for the Bank of Utah Championship, where defending champ Matt McCarty returns to Black Desert Resort.

Meanwhile, the Champions Tour continues its playoffs at the Simmons Bank Championship in Arkansas, with Padraig Harrington seeking an unprecedented three-peat.
