Shane Lowry didn't just win his home Open, he buried the field (on the DP World Tour). The 38-year-old closed with a final-round 63 at Trump International Doonbeg to finish at 23-under, an 11-shot victory over Patrick Reed and Joaquin Niemann that shattered the tournament's scoring-margin record.
Lowry had already flirted with history in round two, carding a course-record 62, and he never let up down the stretch: a 44-foot bomb on 15 all but ended the suspense, and a 29-foot putt on 18 was just for style.
It's Lowry's second Irish Open title (his first came 17 years ago) and his fifth DP World Tour win overall, though his lone major remains the 2019 Open at Portrush. President Trump watched from the ropes all weekend, but this one belonged entirely to Shane.
TEAM EUROPE RECLAIMS THE CUP
Europe is taking the Solheim Cup back across the Atlantic. Anna Nordqvist's side beat the U.S. 15-13 at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands, avenging their loss from two years ago. Lottie Woad's win over Auston Kim lit the fuse, and Carlota Ciganda slammed the door with the clinching point over Jennifer Kupcho; just the second European ever to deliver the cup-winning blow twice.
Linn Grant went a perfect 4-0-0 after going pointless in 2024, and Charley Hull set the tone early with a 3&2 win over Megan Khang. Europe's seven singles points were its best haul since 2013.
