Major Season is upon us
Hello, friends [Hello, Jim Nantz] -- it's time to take a stroll down Magnolia Lane in this week's Masters Edition of the Sub 60 Golf Newsletter

April 4, 2023
WINNERS FROM LAST WEEK

GOLFER OF THE WEEK

Corey Conners
Fresh off a PGA TOUR victory at the Valero Texas Open, and jumping 12 spots in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), Corey Conners looks to continue his hot streak and win his first major at Augusta this week — where he tied for 6th place in 2022.
COURSE OF THE WEEK

Hole #13: Azalea | 545 yards | Par 5
Considered a cathedral in the woods, and one of the greatest courses in the world, Augusta National hosts the Masters this week. Of note, the Par-5 13th hole (nicknamed “Azalea”) has been extended by 35 yards, further fueling the debate of how far professional golfers can (and should be able to) hit the ball in today’s game.

“I COULDN’T LET THEM JUST HIT IT PAST ME”
Mistaken by a security guard as a junior golfer hoping to compete in the Drive, Chip, and Putt Competition — Gordon Sargent (actually 19) had a good laugh Monday as he prepared for Golf's biggest event in a practice round with PGA tour veterans Justin Thomas and Max Homa. Read more here about the world's top-ranked amateur (1 of 7 playing this week) and his impressive driving distance.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening — and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented.
