Scottie Scheffler capped a stellar 2024 with a six-stroke victory at the Tiger Woods hosted Hero World Challenge, earning his ninth win of the year. Scheffler shot a 9-under 63 in the final round at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas, finishing 25-under in the condensed 20-man event. In case anyone has forgotten, the world No. 1 and 2024 FedEx Cup Champion’s achievements this year include wins at the Players, Masters, and the Paris Olympics just to name a few. 🤯 

Scheffler’s consistent play has fueled his world no 1. ranking for 82 weeks consecutive weeks now, the 4th longest streak of all time. His ability to drown the outside noise and focus on improving his game each week (including the implementation of a new claw grip putting technique), will certainly extend that 1. no ranking well into 2025.

“LIVING” IN A NEW ERA

Greg Norman announced he will step down as CEO of LIV Golf but says he will remain involved in some capacity as the tour enters its fourth season in February. Norman, who helped launch LIV in 2021, expressed pride on the impact LIV has made on the game of Golf in a recent interview, citing the $1.5B investment from the Strategy Sports Group and its competition with the PGA Tour. Scott O’Neil is reportedly set to succeed him in 2025.

Despite LIV's relative success, tensions with the PGA Tour persist, including bans on LIV players in PGA events. While both tours negotiate a potential alliance backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, no official agreement has been reached while the Major championships remain to be the primary intersection between the two leagues.
