Stanford Star McNealy Claims First PGA TOUR Title + Master's Invite
November 26, 2024

SUB 60 HEADLINES
Maverick McNealy won his first PGA Tour victory at the 2024 RSM Classic, 7 years after turning pro — and capping off the 2024 PGA TOUR season. The son of tech billionaire, Scott McNealy, Maverick was a high school hockey player turned golfer and committed to Stanford in his junior year.
After tying Tiger Woods for most tournament wins at Stanford, he became the top amateur and was unexpectedly thrust into the golf spotlight. McNealy faced a tough career decision at the time but ultimately chose to pursue professional golf instead of following in his father’s footsteps into the business world.
Despite some career challenges, including full-swing yips and a significant shoulder injury in 2023 that sidelined him for six months, he made the most of his opportunities. During his recovery, McNealy rebuilt his swing, earned a pilot’s license, and married his wife, Maya, whom he met during physical therapy.
His determination paid off in his 142nd start, where he ultimately set up his winning birdie putt with a clutch approach shot from the fairway 185 yards out.

The win not only grants him PGA Tour status through 2026, but will also secure his spot in Masters for the first time in his career. Well done Maverick. 👏
The PGA TOUR has announced its nominees for the 2024 season awards. Scottie Scheffler's dominant year (seven wins, Olympic gold, and FedExCup) leads the Player of the Year candidates, alongside dual major champion Xander Schauffele (PGA Championship, The Open) and two-time winner Rory McIlroy.
