With U.S. captain Zach Johnson and Europe captain Luke Donald finalizing their captain picks this past week, the Ryder Cup teams are set for Rome.

In addition to the six automatic qualifiers, the US Team will feature many returning Ryder Cup players — including LIV Golfer, Brooks Koepka, first-time Ryder Cup team member Sam Burns, and what some consider a controversial pick in Justin Thomas.

Thomas has had a tremendous track record at the event in years past but struggled throughout the 2023 season. Despite being a down year for the two-time major champion, team captain Zach Johnson says, “You just don’t leave JT at home“. Colin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth, and Rickie Fowler round out the remaining captain’s picks.

Team Europe has their Ryder Cup team set with the remaining captain picks finalized on Monday. In addition to the 6 automatic qualifiers — that include FedEx Cup Champion Viktor Hovland — Luke Donald’s captain’s picks include other PGA Tour veterans Justin Rose, Shane Lowry, and Tommy Fleetwood.

Ludvig Aberg also makes the team after having just won his first professional event on Sunday at the Omega European Masters on the DP World Tour. Aberg earned his PGA tour card in historic fashion earlier this year and now will represent Europe on the biggest team golf stage in the world. What an opportunity for the young Swede!

🇺🇸 USA RETAINS WALKER CUP 🏆

The Walker Cup is a biennial golf competition between amateur golfers from the United States and Great Britain/Ireland. The US has won the team event 39 times out of the 49 times it has been contested (80% of the time).

Sunday was no different and ended with a US celebration for the best U.S. amateurs playing at historic St. Andrew’s!
