The Northern Irishman carded a final-round 71 at Augusta National to win the 2026 Masters at -12, holding off Scottie Scheffler by a single stroke and claiming his sixth career major. He is now just the fourth player in history — alongside Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods — to win consecutive green jackets. It was not easy. McIlroy entered Sunday with a three-shot lead and promptly double-bogeyed the 4th hole, then bogeyed the 6th. At one point, Justin Rose led by two. McIlroy steadied with a birdie at 12 off a 9-iron to seven feet, launched a 350-yard drive to set up another at 13, then survived a wild tee shot on 18 that nearly found the 10th fairway. Scheffler's Sunday was a thing of beauty — bogey-free rounds of 65-68 to close, the first bogey-free weekend at Augusta since 1942 — and it still wasn't enough. Justin Rose finished T3 at -10 alongside Cameron Young, Tyrrell Hatton, and Russell Henley. Rose had led Sunday's back nine before back-to-back bogeys at 11 and 12. Augusta being Augusta.
