Scheffler Survives Drama to Clinch Travelers Trophy

World No. 1 Claims Sixth Win of Season; Young's 59 Lights Up Saturday

SUB 60 HEADLINES

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler continued his remarkable run of form, clinching his sixth victory of the season at the Travelers Championship. In a thrilling finish at TPC River Highlands, Scheffler bested Tom Kim in a playoff after both finished regulation play at 22-under par.

The final moments of the tournament were marked by unexpected drama when six protesters rushed onto the 18th green, leaving a powdery substance on the putting surface. The demonstrators, wearing shirts reading "No golf on a dead planet," were quickly removed by police, allowing play to resume after a brief delay. Both Scheffler and Kim acknowledged the surreal nature of the incident, with Scheffler praising the swift action of law enforcement. The protesters face charges of criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and breach of peace.

This win etches Scheffler's name in the record books as the quickest to reach six season victories since Arnold Palmer in 1962. His recent achievements are staggering: 12 career TOUR wins since February 2022, including four Signature Events, THE PLAYERS Championship, and the Masters.

The final round saw early challenges from players like Cameron Young, Xander Schauffele, and Akshay Bhatia. However, Scheffler's consistency and clutch performance, particularly in the latter half of the round, proved decisive. Despite a strong showing from Kim, who forced the playoff with a birdie on the 18th, Scheffler's composure in the extra hole secured his victory.

Scheffler's dominant form continues to set him apart in the golfing world, with his ability to perform under pressure solidifying his status as the game's top performer. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Scheffler to see if he can extend this extraordinary run of success.

YOUNG GOES SUB-60

On Saturday, June 22, the PGA Tour welcomed its newest member to the sub-60 club. Cameron Young fired an incredible 59 (-11) at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut, marking the first such round since August 2020.

As Sub 60 Golf readers know, Scottie Scheffler had held the distinction of the most recent sub-60 round for nearly four years. While Scheffler went on to win the tournament, Young's remarkable feat—achieved with seven birdies and two eagles—captured the golf world's attention. After all, this is only the 13th sub-60 round in PGA Tour history.

Young's performance reignites the excitement around golf's ultimate scoring barrier. Who will be next to break 60? We'll be watching closely to bring you the latest in this perpetual pursuit of perfection.

SOCIAL OF THE WEEK 😂🏆💰

They say he who laughs last, laughs best. But in golf these days, it's just Scottie laughing first, last, and all the way to the bank.
