Scottie Scheffler doesn't play from behind very often. Sunday at East Lake, he did anyway; and it barely mattered.

Down three to Viktor Hovland to start the final round of the Tour Championship, Scheffler carded six birdies against two bogeys for a 66, while Hovland made bogey at the pivotal 17th and could only answer with a 72. By the time the dust settled, Scheffler had a three-shot win at 16-under 264, a $10 million check from East Lake's $40 million purse, and his second FedExCup title.

The company he's keeping now: Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are the only other multi-time FedExCup champions. His career earnings have also passed Woods'. At some point "best in the world" stops covering it.

IT’S ABOUT YIN

Ruoning Yin's last LPGA win came in 2024. She erased that at the FM Championship, closing with a 70 at TPC Boston to win by two over Hyo Joo Kim and Sei Young Kim. The finish: a two-putt birdie on the reachable par-5 18th, capping a tour-best 24 birdies for the week. At 23, Yin is now just the sixth player in 15 years with six LPGA titles and a major before turning 24.

TWO WEEKS’ NOTICE

The PGA Tour's regular season just ended, which means something rare: an actual bye week. There's no official Tour event the week of September 1. The FedExCup Fall opens two weeks out with the brand-new Biltmore Championship (Sept. 17–20) at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove outside Asheville, the Tour's first stop in the Blue Ridge Mountains in more than 80 years.
