The American Dream came alive in Utah this week as Michael Brennan, a 23-year-old sponsor exemption playing in just his third PGA Tour event, dominated the Bank of Utah Championship with a wire-to-wire victory at 22-under par. The Wake Forest product pocketed $1.08 million and earned a two-year PGA Tour exemption, completely bypassing the Korn Ferry Tour grind.

Brennan’s margin of victory? A comfortable 4 strokes over Philippines’ Rico Hoey at Black Desert Resort. The young gun responded to Sunday pressure with a monster 418-yard drive on the par-4 12th hole – the longest of the week – that effectively ended Hoey’s challenge. He then drove the par-4 14th green with a 3-wood for good measure.

The numbers tell a remarkable story: Brennan won three times in four tournaments on PGA Tour Americas just 28 days before this victory. He joins an exclusive club as only the seventh player since 1970 to win within his first three PGA Tour starts. Not bad for someone who texts his agent before rounds: “Treat it like it’s River Creek” – his Virginia home course.

DOWN UNDER DELIVERS

Team Australia captured their first-ever LPGA International Crown title at New Korea Country Club in South Korea, defeating the top-seeded United States in the championship match. Minjee Lee went a perfect 4-0-1 across all matches, earning tournament MVP honors, while Hannah Green sealed the victory with a clutch 10-foot birdie on the 17th hole.

The Aussies overcame multiple deficits throughout the week in a show of pure grit. After finishing runner-up in 2023, they finally climbed to the top, with each of the four team members taking home $125,000 from the $2 million purse.
