Rose Zhang made history Sunday, winning her very first LPGA tournament start — 72 years since such a feat was last accomplished. The victory in her pro debut (in a playoff, no less) earned her automatic LPGA Tour membership, and signaled the beginning of a new era in women’s golf.

As an amateur at Stanford, Rose held the top-ranked spot for 141 weeks, and was able to win every important amateur event: the U.S. Women’s Amateur, the U.S. Junior Girls, the NCAAs, and finally, the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Well done Rose. It appears she is well on her way to bigger and better things.
