While the PGA Tour took its traditional post-FedExCup breather this weekend, the LPGA Tour delivered drama at TPC Boston where Miranda Wang captured her first professional victory at the FM Championship. The 26-year-old rookie from Beijing shot a clutch final-round 70 to edge world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul by one stroke, finishing at 20-under 268 and earning $615,000 from the $4.1 million purse.

Wang's victory marked another milestone in the LPGA's historic 2025 season - she became the 24th different winner in 23 events, extending a tour record for parity.

The Duke graduate showed ice in her veins down the stretch, draining a crucial 5-foot birdie on the 17th hole after Thitikul had taken a one-shot lead. With 35 of the world's top-40 women competing at TPC Boston, Wang proved she belongs among golf's elite.
FROM BEIJING TO BREAKTHROUGH
Wang's journey to her first LPGA title reads like a modern golf fairy tale. The former Blue Devil helped Duke capture the 2019 NCAA Championship and turned professional with dreams of representing China on golf's biggest stage. After grinding through Monday qualifiers and struggling with missed cuts early in her rookie season, everything clicked in Massachusetts.
A near wire-to-wire win for Miranda Wang 🤩

What made Sunday's performance so impressive was Wang's composure under pressure. When Thitikul birdied 16 to take the lead, lesser players might have folded. Instead, Wang responded with that clutch birdie on 17, then sealed the deal with a rock-solid par on 18. Her celebration with fellow Chinese players Rose Zhang and Weiwei Zhang showed the tight-knit community supporting golf's global growth.
QUIET WEEK BEFORE THE STORM
This week presents one of the quietest schedules of the entire golf calendar. The PGA Tour remains dark until the Procore Championship kicks off September 11-14 at Silverado Resort in Napa Valley, while LIV Golf has concluded its 2025 season. Only the PGA Tour Champions provides action with the Stifel Charity Classic (September 5-7) at Norwood Hills Country Club in St. Louis.
The calm feels appropriate as golf prepares for September's main event: the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black (September 26-28). Captain Keegan Bradley announced his final picks last week, setting up what promises to be a raucous atmosphere on Long Island. Europe finalized their team this week and arrives with momentum from Tommy Fleetwood's recent breakthrough, while the Americans aim to defend on home soil.

Charlie Woods provided the weekend's most viral moment with his incredibly nonchalant reaction to a hole-in-one at TPC Sawgrass during the Junior Players Championship. The 16-year-old's casual wave after draining a 177-yard ace had social media buzzing about his Tiger-like composure.
