Nick Taylor, Byeong Hun An, and Wyndham Clark rocketed up the Official World Golf Rankings this year.

Perhaps lost in the weekly grind and season-long pursuit of FedEx Cup points and tournament victories, is the fact that golf is a marathon, not a sprint. The golfers highlighted below demonstrated incredible resilience and toughness during the 2023 season, as they climbed their way up the Official World Golf Rankings list, week in and week out.

Congrats to Nick Taylor, Byeong Hun An, and Wyndham Clark for making the biggest season-long moves of those golfers in the current Top 60!

END OF AN ERA

The PGA tour has operated under a wrap-around season schedule for the past decade. That is to say, the golf season “started” in September and ran through the following August, finishing with the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Beginning in January 2024, however, the PGA Tour will be switching to a calendar-based season. The first tournament of the 2024 season will indeed start and finish in 2024.

So what does that mean for the next three months — which would typically be the start of the next PGA Tour season?

Enter the PGA Tour Fall season — essentially an extension of the previous 2023 season, and the last opportunity for golfers outside the Top 125 FedEx Cup Standings to secure their PGA Tour card for the upcoming 2024 season.

While all of the big names in golf may not be playing, there are still 7 events and $56 million up for grabs. The Fortinet Championship kicks off the inaugural Fall Season this week.
