The 27-year-old dominated Sedgefield Country Club with a wire-to-wire performance, finishing at -22 (258) for a commanding 6-shot victory. Young earned $1,476,000 from the $8.2 million purse and punched his ticket to the FedEx Cup Playoffs after seven painful runner-up finishes.

Mac Meissner finished second at -16, while Mark Hubbard and Alex Noren tied for third at -15. The victory came after Young switched golf balls just 48 hours before the tournament – sometimes trusting your gut pays off in a big way.

PLAYOFF PRESSURE COOKER
Young's breakthrough couldn't have come at a better time, as FedEx Cup bubble drama reached a fever pitch Sunday. Davis Thompson experienced heartbreak on the 18th green, three-putting from 45 feet to miss the playoffs by just 5 FedEx Cup points – falling from 70th to 71st place. The margin between playing for $20 million and watching from home literally came down to inches.
All 70 qualified players now advance to this week's FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind (August 7-10), where defending champion Hideki Matsuyama leads a loaded field. Notably, Rory McIlroy will skip the first playoff event despite qualifying comfortably.

Across the pond, Miyu Yamashita gave herself the ultimate 24th birthday present by capturing the AIG Women's Open at Royal Porthcawl. The Japanese star shot -11 (277) to win by two strokes over England's Charley Hull and fellow Japanese player Minami Katsu. Yamashita earned $1,462,500 from a record $9.75 million purse for her first major championship and first LPGA Tour victory.

Yamashita's wire-to-wire victory marked a historic moment for Japanese golf, making her the third Japanese player to capture the Women's Open. Despite Charley Hull's dramatic charge that brought her within one shot with four holes remaining, Yamashita held her nerve to claim the Claret Jug.
The tournament featured a viral moment when Mimi Rhodes holed out for an ace after her ball deflected off playing partner Stephanie Kyriacou's ball – positioned just inches from the cup on the par-3 3rd hole!
