Michael Brennan is the current favorite, and not just because of the tournament name. The 24-year-old American closed with a 3-under 68 at Yokohama Country Club to finish at 16-under 268, one shot clear of Keith Mitchell and Jacob Bridgeman. The win paid $1,440,000 from the $8 million purse and is his second of 2026 (Wyndham, in August) to go with the .

It was not tidy. Brennan, who shared the 54-hole lead, bogeyed the 10th, then birdied 11 and 12 and parred his way home. His best shot came at the par-3 16th, where he splashed out of a greenside bunker to a foot to save par.

The heartbreak was behind him. Mitchell led by two after a five-hole stretch of 5-under, then played the last 10 holes in 2-over. Bridgeman missed a 5-footer for birdie on 17, and his 55-foot try on 18 stopped about four feet short. Defending champion Xander Schauffele stood one back on the 18th tee, drove into the trees and made double bogey, tying for fourth at 13-under with Brian Harman, Stephan Jaeger, Ryan Gerard and Jordan Smith.

FIRST TIME CHAMPION

Vaughn Taylor has his first Champions win. He beat Alex Cejka on the second playoff hole at the Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS in Palm Coast, Florida, with a 7-foot birdie putt. It is Taylor's first victory anywhere since the 2016 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where he edged Phil Mickelson. Next up for the Champions: the SAS Championship, October 16-18 in Cary, North Carolina.

NEXT ON THE TEE: WEEK OFF

The PGA Tour takes a week off. The Fall swing resumes October 22-25 with the Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course, a $6 million event. Adam Schenk is the defending champion.
