SUB 60 HEADLINES

Ryan Fox is your Champion Golfer of the Year. The 39-year-old Kiwi birdied four of his final six holes at Royal Birkdale, capping it with an 11.5-footer on the 72nd, to win the 154th Open Championship at 10-under 270, one clear of Cameron Young. His first major was worth a record $3.2 million from a record $17.75 million purse.
The win was built on Saturday's 62, tying the lowest round in men's major championship history. Sunday brought a crowded leaderboard: Sam Burns (solo 3rd at 8-under), Scottie Scheffler and Tommy Fleetwood (T4 at 7-under) all made runs.
Fox, ranked No. 56 in the world and a 200-1 longshot at some books, never blinked. He becomes just the second New Zealander to lift the Claret Jug, joining Sir Bob Charles (1963).
Down in the Dominican Republic, Italy's Stefano Mazzoli grabbed his first PGA Tour title at the opposite-field Corales Puntacana Championship, closing in 66 to win at 20-under, one shot ahead of Gordon Sargent and Todd Clements.
3M OPEN
The PGA Tour heads back stateside for the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota (July 23–26). World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler makes his first career start at the event, while defending champion Kurt Kitayama chases the tournament's first-ever repeat title.
With just three events left before the FedExCup playoffs, expect desperate golf from the bubble. Fresh Open champ Ryan Fox withdrew, and honestly, who could blame him.
