Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit and Southern California’s Jake Knapp won the Grant Thornton Invitational this weekend finishing 27-under par, edging Jeeno Thitikul and Tom Kim by one stroke in a thrilling final round in Naples, Florida.
The Grant Thornton Invitational is a unique mixed-team event co-hosted by the LPGA and PGA TOUR at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Florida, featuring 16 teams of both PGA and LPGA golf stars.

Starting with a two-shot lead Sunday afternoon, Tavatanakit and Knapp faced stiff competition from the Kupcho/Bhatia and Henderson/Conners pairings, but ultimately secured the victory with key birdies on the 16th and 17th holes. Tavatanakit credited improved putting and her partnership with Knapp for the win, ending her 2024 season on a high note. For Knapp, it caps a very solid rookie season that included a PGA tour victory at the Mexico Open back in February.

The 15-time major champion, who underwent his sixth back surgery in September, chose to skip the Hero World Challenge but feels ready for this more relaxed format where golf carts are permitted. The father-son duo, who finished tied for fifth last year and have a best finish of second in 2021, will look to capture their first PNC Championship victory.
The star-studded field features defending champions Bernhard Langer and son Jason, who dramatically won last year after making 10 birdies in 11 holes during the final round.

Other notable participants include PNC Championship first-timers Fred Couples and Trevor Immelman with their respective sons, LPGA superstar Nelly Korda (fresh off a seven-win season) with father Petr, and 85-year-old Lee Trevino, who maintains his streak as the only player to compete in every edition of the event. The tournament returns to the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, where wide fairways and strategic hazards await the 20 family duos competing for the title.
Too soon Rory? 😁
Rory: “I’d like to go up against Bryson and try to get him back for what he did to me at the U.S. Open.”
Bryson: “To be fair, you kind of did it to yourself.”
